John Clyde Shenk, 73, of Salunga, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2026. John was the son of the late Daniel M. and Esther (Leaman) Shenk, Sr. He was the loving husband of Tae Sun Kim Shenk with whom he celebrated 52 years of marriage.

Of the Mennonite Faith, John graduated from Penn Manor High School in 1970. He proudly served in the US Army in Korea, as a military policeman and dog handler. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Lancaster County and worked for Armstrong World Industries until his retirement in 2007.

John enjoyed going to car shows, working on small engine repairs, and loved dogs, but was especially partial to German Shepherds. John was a lifetime member of the Hempfield Fire Department. He was also a member of the VFW in Millersville and Mount Joy.

In addition to his wife, Kim, he is survived by his sons, Michael Shenk of Landisville, and Steve Kang, husband of Lee, of New York; a grandson: Hobin Kang, and five siblings. He was preceded in death by five siblings.

Memorial Services for John will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Charles F. Snyder III Funeral Home & Crematory, 2421 Willow Street Pike, Willow Street, PA 17584. Family and friends will be received at the funeral home from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in John's memory may be made to Stop Soldier Suicide.
