I shared a famous story about a fire that Asher´s car started, and my facts were a little off, so here is the correction. It was the Chantilly Country Club where it happened, not the Hilton Hotel. Sorry, my memory was off.

I first met Shep, as we called him, when I was married to my first husband, also a musician in the Navy Commodores Big Band. He was the funniest story teller, in that droll way of talking he had. The story that is legend with us in the DC area is when he was at a gig in DC, at the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Ave. it is referred to as the Hinkley Hilton because Reagan got shot there. He parked his old car under the portico, and unfortunately it caught fire and started to burn the front of the hotel. He was one of the best drummers I´ve ever heard and a good friend.
