He was the most kind, honest person I knew growing up. He was a man of his word. He and his wife, were the best "lake" neighbors!! Too bad it isn't that way any longer...

I just read of your father's death. He was a fine man, and I have fond memories of both your parents, and all of you, when we all lived close by. My sympathy to all of your family.

To Mike and all the Sherzers - I just heard of your dad's death and am so saddened. Both he and your mom made all of us catholic school nomad kids, especially those of us coming from a distance, feel at home. I loved spending time in your home and enjoyed listening to your dad hold court about history, especially military history. As Pat O'Connor rightly said, we always knew that your dad had our backs in our games. I took it for granted and was even a little embarrassed by our parents' vocal support - how lucky we were! And none were better at giving the refs an earful than your dad!

A great generation is passing with the death of men like your dad. Please know that you all are in our prayers and be comforted that your mom and dad are once again watching all of us, together, holding hands as they climb the heavenly bleachers for a better view.

Jack was a wonderful, caring man - always giving of himself. He added so much to my childhood. I can't believe that I spent Monday nights shooting a rifle at the rifle range! Jack made life interesting for all of us in the neighborhood. I believe he is in heaven now, joyfully reunited with Kathy. Peace to all the Sherzer families.

Holding you four in our hearts down here in Melbourne, FL. Considering how life slips by faster than we wish, we are glad we made the trip to be with R&R since we weren't together for Thanksgiving or Xmas...Love, EDNGIN

To the Sherzer "kids" - your father and mother were very good to me as we were all growing up. They were kind and gracious with the time they gave as they supported ALL of us St. Francis / St. Thomas / Gabriel Richard kids. Your folks were like a second set of parents to us all. I always considered your father "Jack" to be like a sixth man on the ST / GR basketball teams. No referees could get away with a bad call or missed call without Jack letting them know with a loud shout out and thunderous crashing sound as he kicked the bleachers. It was the most beautiful sound in the old gymnasium. Find peace knowing that your parents touched our lives.

Jack was a great guy - a Michigan man, a man's man, and I enjoyed hearing him talk about sports. He was faithful man and attended mass here at Glacier Hills. He will be missed.

I am greatly saddened by the passing of Jack Sherzer. He was a wise man, a warm man, a pillar of the community and a friend to all. As kids, he opened his home and his heart to us. He played with joy, instructed with modesty and laughed heartily. And as we grew to adults, he listened to us, lent us his wisdom and smiled at our progress. My heart goes out to all the Sherzer family.

Jack Sherzer was one of my very favorite people. He was such an important person in my childhood, and I have so many great memories of him--his smile, his kindness, and the time he gave so generously to all of the neighborhood kids. I will miss him a lot. I'm thinking about all of you and sending you lots of love--Nancy Plant
