John Edward Shuford

John Edward Shuford, age 68, of Micaville, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 23rd, 2022 at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory. A native of Yancey County, he was the son of the late Ed and Savannah Geouge Shuford. He was also preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Maude Carroll Briggs and brother-in-law, Gary Wheeler. Johnny loved fishing and walking in the woods.
Surviving is his loving wife of 34 years, Maphrie Briggs Shuford; father-in-law, Junior Briggs of Micaville; five sisters-in-law: Linda Wheeler (Alvin) of Canton, Brenda Wheeler of Canton, Sandra Briggs of Micaville, Sherry Burleson (Rev. Tim) of Micaville and Sheila Mundy (Philip) of Barnardsville. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 26th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Tim Burleson will officiate. Burial will follow in the Silver Chapel Cemetery in Bandana. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of his father-in-law, Junior Briggs, at 99 Poodle Drive, Burnsville. The family respectfully asks that everyone wear a mask.
