John Daniel Simich, age 86, of Shelton, passed away May 22, 2025. He was born in Chicago, Illinois to the late John and Julia (Mihajlovits) Simich. John matriculated from Lane Technical High School in Chicago and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology where he met his future wife, Donna Glardon. They were married in September 1961.
John was employed by General Electric Corporation in Pennsylvania and in Schenectady, New York and by General Electric Credit Corporation in Stamford, Connecticut. While in Schenectady John attended 5 years of evening classes to earn an MBA degree from MIT.
John's interests included family history, thrifty living, and fun family vacations. John and Donna were active members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for more than 50 years. As a dedicated lay minister in the Church John served as a Stake High Councilor, Bridgeport Branch President and 17 years as the New Haven Stake clerk. He will be remembered as a dependable, detailed oriented servant of Jesus Christ and a true and tireless friend to many.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Donna (Glardon) Simich. He is survived by his son Brian Simich.
Burial will be private in Huntington Lawn Cemetery in Shelton.
A Celebration of Life service for John will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 7 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 26 Bonnie View Dr. Trumbull, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Griffin Hospital Development Fund (griffinhealth.org) in the names of Donna and John Simich (for the Library at Griffin Hospital).
