John "Jack" Singer of Winnsboro died peacefully at Richland Prisma hospital on Saturday, February 26, 2022.
Jack was born on June 16, 1952, in Latrobe, Pa and was the son of Kenneth and Doris (Huber) Singer. He was quite proud of Latrobe, birthplace of Arnold Palmer, Mister Rogers, and summer home of his favorite sports team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jack served honorably in the US Air Force for 4 years and reached the rank of Sergeant. After leaving the AF, Jack moved to SC and worked for the Town of Winnsboro for over 30 years. Jack started his own excavation business after he retired. In recent years, Jack's mobility slowed down but he still loved to spend time with Charlene & Chris and make trips to Florida to see his sisters and back to PA for graduations and weddings of his 10 nieces and nephews and 13 great nieces & nephews.
Jack was preceded in death by his beloved Linda (Bryce) Singer, his parents, and his brother James Singer. He is survived by his daughter, Charlene Robinson, and his sisters, Debbie (Steve) Jacobs of Ocala, Suesi (Greg) May of Greensburg, Pa, Mary (Roger) Schmidt of Daytona Beach, Fl., sister-in-law Marie Singer (Jim's wife), along with brothers Jeff (Michelle) Singer of Wilmington, NC and Jay (Lynne) Singer of Germantown, Md. And last but not least his beloved dogs; Chrissie and Dawg.
The family would like to thank the folks of Winnsboro for "adopting" Jack as one of their own and making him feel welcome. A special thank you to the medical staff (MICU nurses) of Prisma Hospital who made Jack's final days as comfortable as possible.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fairfield County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 60, Winnsboro, SC 29180.
A service will be held at Pope Funeral Home 521 S. Congress St. in Winnsboro on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 2pm. Family & Friends are invited to attend a visitation immediately following the service at the funeral home.
