He is survived by his loving wife, Kay McArtan Sitton; daughter, Louise Ann Sitton (David); sons, John H Sitton, Jr. (Heather), and Scott C Sitton (Paula); three grandchildren, Will and Alina Sitton, and John Wilson; a brother, William L Sitton (Kathy); and cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
Charitable contributions can be made to Moments of Hope Church, 4500 Cameron Valley Parkway, Suite 400, Charlotte, NC 28211 or to the charity of your choice.

I miss the advice and counsel of John from time to time even though I was not a family member. He and Kay made me feel like a member of the family and for that I will forever be grateful. May he rest in peace!

My goodness it does not seem like John has been gone for a year now. His memory is as clear as it can be and always will be. He was such a good man and that is evident by looking at the family he left behind. I was honored by his presence and I am still honored knowing the family. He set such an excellent example and he is missed on a daily basis!

My heart bleeds for this loss and I hope the family will take these words as my sincere and heartfelt wish for you to have peace. Yes, there is going to be a lot of grieving but as time goes on you will have the memories to sustain you through the rest of your life, setting the same example as good and decent people that your father taught you over the years. This is a family that shows that love really does transcend everything else in life. John was one of the important people whose path I crossed along the way. It was a Defining Moment which is the name of a book he and Kay gave me years ago. They gave me another years later and that was reassured me that in spite of the worry, the sorrow and some of life that gets in the way sometimes, everything is going to be OK; and it is! Words are futile at this time but I hope these heartfelt words will comfort you. You are not alone so bless you all: Kay, Lou, Johnny, Scott, brother Bill and the entire family during this difficult time. Take care! RIP John
