John Mark Skelton, 73 of Independence, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. John was born April 19, 1952, in Kansas City, Mo., to Asa and Geraldine (Godman) Skelton.
After graduating from Westport High School, John continued his education at University of Missouri in Rolla. In 2005 John took a job as an airline security screener at Kansas City International Airport until his retirement.
John met his wife Barbara while in Rolla while visiting friends at Baptist City Union. They were married on May 1, 1976, and spent the next 48 years creating a life together.
