Mr. John Anthony “Andy” Slater, 68, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2025, at his home. He was born on October 20, 1957, in Forsyth County, NC to the late Bruce Slater and Betty Caudle Slater. Andy was faithful to the Lord and his family, which he enjoyed spending time with, especially his wife and grandchildren. He retired from the NCDA after 20 years of service as a meat inspector. Andy was a jack of all trades and enjoyed traveling to the beach. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Michael Slater and brother, Randy Slater. Andy is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Jeanette Slater, daughter, Michele Mankey (Joe); and four grandchildren, Layton Slater, Matthew Slater, Colton Mankey, and Sadie Mankey. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 8, 2026, at Olive Grove Baptist Church in Pinnacle, NC with Pastor Todd Lusk and Pastor Cal Cordial officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bread of Life Building Fund 648 Almondridge Drive, Rural Hall, NC, 27045.
