John Rubin Smith III

John Rubin Smith III, 66, of Lothian passed away December 2, 2025. He was born November 18, 1959 in Washington, D.C. to John Rubin, Jr. and Jean Ann (Edwards) Smith. He was raised in Oxon Hill and graduated from Suitland High School. John worked as a contractor for various construction jobs, primarily as a carpet installer and electrician. He married Mildred Moreland on December 18, 1985 and they made their home in Lothian. He enjoyed fishing, football, riding motorcycles, playing cards, working on cars and hunting. He also loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

John is survived by his wife Mildred and children Nicole Tennison (Cecil) and John R. Smith IV, all of Lothian. Also surviving are grandchildren John Smith V, Jeremy Smith, Kristopher Tennison and Taylor Jones, siblings William "Billy" Smith (Alicia), David Smith and Linda Stone (Joe), as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by siblings Diane and Ronald Smith.
