In Loving Memory of John Sondergaard
John E. Sondergaard, 86, of Lithia, Florida, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2025. John's remarkable life began in Riga, Latvia, during a time of profound global change. As a young child, he transitioned from Latvia during the war and found a new beginning in the United States. He was lovingly adopted by Harry and Mabel Sondergaard, who raised him in Mason City, Iowa, where he would grow into the kind, steady, and generous man so many came to know and cherish. John will be remembered not only for his strong work ethic and steadfast values but for the quiet strength with which he supported his family and community. John enjoyed riding his motorcycle and going to Navarre beach with his wife, Sheila. They especially enjoyed going to Latvia to visit where John was born.
Legacy of Family John's greatest pride was his family. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife Sheila of Lithia, Florida; his children, Becki (Michel) Rozet of Lithia, Florida, Tracy (Brett) Wacker of Polk City, Florida, Mike (Pam Pettit) Sondergaard of Spring, Texas, and Ericka (Ryan) Seidemann of Prairieville, Louisiana. He is survived by his nine loving grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren:
• Colbie (Kristen) Wacker, and their children: Canan, Kassidie • Jessica (Trawn) Gooch, and their children: Tristen, Josephine, Easton, Weston, Reef • Reese (Katie) Wacker, and their children: Rex, Karsynn, Roy, Rocker • Evan Rozet • Rachel Rozet • Elizabeth Seidemann • Michael Seidemann • Alex (Courtney) Sondergaard, and their children: Norah, Alice, Carter • Jake Sondergaard
He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and enduring family bonds. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the honor of knowing him.
