John "Clarkie" Souza

This wonderful man was my God father. A kind and gentle man, soft spoken and always room in his lap for me! A great life he lived and another angel to watch over us all. Love to you.

Dear Souza Family,

Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your beloved. There are never any right words to express how deeply sad I am for the pain your family is enduring at this difficult time.

Although I did not have the honor and pleasure of knowing him, as Chair of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations, I am sincerely thankful for his valiant service in defense of our rights and freedom.

His commitment to family, friends, our community, and to serving our great nation leaves a wonderful legacy. May the love and the wonderful memories you shared with him help you when you need it most. He will never be forgotten, and your family will be remembered in my prayers.

My thoughts and prayer goes out to the Souza's family and friends in their time of grief. My father, Willy Silvia played with Clarkie with the Ponta Delgada club. My dad passed away in 95, so out of respect, I will be attending the on the 13th. Growing up, he always talked highly of Clarkie. Eddie Sousa's son will be attending as well.

Psalms 90:10 states, "In themselves the days of our years are seventy years, and if because of special mightiness that are eighty years." Although he lived a long life this does not relieve the pain that is felt by his love ones.

I am so sorry for your loss, My dad Manuel Souza and my uncle John souza played soccer in Fall River together when he lived near Plymouth ave. Dad says he was a great man. Prayers and hugs to all the family.

Please accept my condolences. It's so good that Mr. Souza lived a long life. The scriptures tells us that: In our days are 70 years and if by special mightiness they are 80 years- Psalm 90:10. I'm sure that you have many fond memories of him.- Romans 15:4.

Always a sad day when we lose another Olympian. He competed for the U.S. in 1948 and 1952

RIP Clarkie. Not sure I ever met you, but you were my Godfather's brother.

An American Legend, he's on a pretty small list for such a big country. And he deserved it - they all do.
