John W (Jack) Squire passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones after a short illness. The loving husband of the late Thomasina (Tommy) Verdi Squire, they resided for over 40 years in

Netcong. Jack was living in White Township at the time of his death. Born on May 1st, 1932, in Washington DC, he was the son of Farren Squire and Lucille Thorne Squire. He was brother to the late Edna (Squire) LaGreca.

He spent many summers at the family cottage near Lake Hopatcong. It was here that Jack and Tommy met. They were married in 1953 and had two beautiful daughters, Jacquelyn Swayze and the late Marcia Cussen. Jack served as an MP in the Army from 1951 to 1953 and achieved the rank of Corporal. He was very proud to have served and wore his Korean War Veterans cap wherever he went. After the service, Jack was employed by the A&P Tea Company and helped in setting up many new stores in northern New Jersey. Later, Jack went to work for Lenape Valley High School in building and grounds maintenance. Most recently, Jack worked as a "Jack" of all trades for the retirement community where he lived, continuing to keep busy helping others at 93 years young. Jack served as a volunteer fireman with the Netcong Hill Top Fire Company #2 and was recently recognized for 70 years of service. He was a former Chief of the Company.

Jack, known to his close friends as "Tons of Fun" had many interests including traveling all over the country in his and Tommy's travel trailer. They spent many happy times at Barefoot Landing in Myrtle Beach. Jack built and flew radio-controlled airplanes and was a member of Top O NJ RC Club. Jack built and sailed a Yankee ice boat on Budd Lake, Lake Hopatcong and many other frozen bodies of water all over New Jersey. He was a member of the Musconetcong-Budd Lakes Ice Boat and Yacht Club. Jack's real passion was motorcycles. Starting as a young boy until shortly before his death at 93 he was always on his bike rain or shine. He enjoyed riding with his grandsons Jason, Patrick and Erik. He road cross country with two close friends at the age of 85. He made many of the major events Daytona Bike Week, Laconia NH, Rolling Thunder, the Garlic Runs and many charity events, and yes, he went to Sturgis. Jack was a proud member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club.

Jack is survived by his daughter Jacquelyn Swayze, a son-in-law Timothy Cussen, four grandsons Joshua Swayze, Jason Swayze, Patrick Cussen and Erik Cussen, three granddaughters Mariam Swayze, Lisa Ruffle Swayze and Erin Cussen, a great granddaughter, Emma Swayze, six great grandsons, Ethan Swayze, Luca Swayze, Teddy Swayze, Henrik Swayze, Rowan Cussen and Weston Cussen, to them he was "Pop", many nieces and nephews and hundreds of dear friends.
