John H. Stambaugh, 71, of Bader, IL, passed away at 11:16 pm on Friday, November 22, 2024 at his home. He was born on July 21, 1953 in Astoria, the son of Willard and Mary (Kennison) Stambaugh.
John is survived by his significant other, Brenda Powell of Bader, three sons; Jason Stambaugh of Astoria, Joshua Stambaugh of Rushville, IL, and Matthew (and Kayla McCombs) Stambaugh of Astoria, one granddaughter; Josie Stambaugh, two step-granddaughters; Mariah DeFord and Brinlee Zeisler, one step-great-granddaughter; Tatum Anderson, one brother; Jack (and Lily) Stambaugh of Bader, and one sister; Patricia (and Mark) Lund of Astoria.
John is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters; Mary, Joyce and Samantha, and three brothers; Carroll, Jimmy and Arthur "Bud".
John was a carpenter and worked with his brothers, Stambaugh Brothers Construction. He was also a skilled mechanic, working for Curly's Auto Repair in Astoria for several years.
From working on them to going to car shows, John loved old cars. He also loved fishing. John loved his family, spending time with his granddaughter and was loved by many.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 in the South Fulton Cemetery in Astoria. Pastor Matt Haberman will officiate. A visitation will take place from 12 noon to 1 pm on Tuesday, November 26 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Memorials may be made to the family.
