John Joseph Stanek, 87, a resident of Plaistow, NH, died on Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Advinia Care in Newburyport, MA. He was the beloved husband of Rika (Brucha) Stanek with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.
He was born in Chicago, IL on April 27, 1938 and was the son of the late Joseph and Regina (Cholewa) Stanek. He was raised in Chicago, Illinois and was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School in IL. He enlisted in the USMC in 1958 and proudly served 3 years active duty and 3 years in the Reserves. John was employed as a production manager at Western Electric in Chicago and AT&T-Lucent in North Andover, MA, retiring after over forty years with the company. John enjoyed traveling with his family, not only throughout most of the US, including National Parks but was also fortunate to have visited almost every country in the world. He loved cruises with his wife Rika, and he cherished time with his family. He enjoyed dogs anywhere he went, especially those in the neighborhood, which he knew by name and always offered treats.
Besides his wife, John is survived by his five daughters Patricia Casaccio and her husband Tom of Addison, IL, Charlene Dow and her husband Jerry of Somersworth, NH, Regina Livelsberger and her husband David of Waterford, VA, Sonja Kraus and her husband David of Amherst, NH, and Jennifer Roberts and her husband Michael of Windham, NH, his eleven grandchildren Joseph Casaccio, Erica Farrand and her husband Keenan, Alyssa Casaccio, Christopher Dow and his wife Madison, Nicholas Dow, Sophia Livelsberger, Stefanie Livelsberger, Isabella Kraus, Andrew Roberts, William Roberts, and John Kraus, one great grandchild Henry Dow, his two sisters Virginia Jankowski and Irene Raimondi and her husband Harry. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was sadly predeceased by his siblings Leonard Stanek, Loretta Stanek, and William Stanek.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, April 20, 2026 at 10:30am at Immaculate Conception Parish, 9 Bonney St., Penacook, NH 03303. Interment will follow at 12pm in the New Hampshire Veterans Cemetery 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.
