John was truly a mentor and one of the best bosses ever. When I interviewed with him at Medical Mutual, I was leaving the interview, walking to my car, and thinking to myself, “If he wasn’t to hire me he’ll come out here and tell me”. No sooner had I thought that and he came running out the door yelling, “Wait! I want to hire you!” I loved our sales meetings when he would explain strategy and the whiteboard always looked like football plays. He was truly one of a kind and I’m very sad that I didn’t realize he had passed until now. My condolences are with the family.

I am a retired CPA and was encouraged by John to major in accounting back in 1973. He spoke to some of us on campus at San Diego State University in summer 1973. From what he said, I chose to major in accounting, with no regrets. I am 98% sure it was you, John.
Thank you so very much. Karl.

John and I we’re always golf partners at Jefferson CC. We had the 1st tee time every Saturday and Sunday! We regularly beat our opponents. He and Katie were very dear friends! I will alway remember to fun times we had together.

I was so saddened to learn today of John's passing. In my mind's eye, I can still see John walking down the street on his way to the golf course. It was always a happy walk and brought a smile to my face. My heart goes out to Katie, the family, and John's many friends. He was a super guy and I know how much he will be missed. May his memory be a blessing to all of you.

John and his wife Katie were some of the best neighbors we ever had.
I first met John when he moved into mason through noticing he used Dairy Queen boxes for moving. My wife and I owned Dairy Queens so there was an immediate relationship with him and his friend Larry in Columbus who also had a Dairy Queen. A lot to do with restaurant background.
As a starter at the Kings Island golf course, I was lucky to see John with other members teeing off. Always with that friendly smile and greeting.
I will miss a friend.

Mr. Stofa was one of the finest of the parents I came to know as a football coach at Roger Bacon! He was a caring, loving dad and husband! The world was a better place with John Stofa in it! Peace and all good to his family!

In November of 1951, I and my family immigrated to the US and John Stofa became my VERY FIRST friend in America. He lived across the street from me in Johnstown, PA and I got to know him, his family and siblings very well. He and I grew up together playing sports; in fact. he introduced me to football, baseball and basketball--sports that I had never heard of in Germany. It was obvious that John was a very gifted & talented athlete. He excelled in all 3 sports in HS and I had the pleasure of following his career in college and on the professional level. He was indeed a very special athlete and person who will be missed. I am just so saddened that we had not kept in touch later in life. My sincere condolences go out to the entire Stofa family. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Bruno Schwarz

Dear Katie and family,
There are no words that we can share with you to ease your pain. Except we are sorry.
We know John and you were closer than “1 & 2”. We remember when you moved here and the good times we had on the tennis court. Raising children and sharing life stories.
When you moved back we talked about getting together. Looking back now it is what could have been. But, we have wonderful memories and that is what counts. May John’s memory be for a blessing.
With much love and respect for the Stofa Family,
Ricki and Stuart Hodesh

An original Dolphin, THE original Bengal, and a WFL original too. Talented QB, as well. Rest in peace, John. I still wish that I had kept your football cards, from the days when you represented Miami and Cincinnati!
