John Sullivan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eggers Funeral Home - Boiling Springs on Jan. 19, 2026.
John Lawrence Sullivan, born February 15, 1942, at Margaret Hague Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey. Died January 17, 2026, at Magnolia Manor of Spartanburg, Spartanburg, South Carolina.

John spent his early years in West New York and Union City, New Jersey, where his mother owned and ran a candy store and soda fountain, no doubt helping spark his appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He later lived in Saddle Brook, Jefferson, Wayne and Garfield, New Jersey, before relocating to Boiling Springs, South Carolina, in 2005.

Before retiring, John worked for Bergen Passaic Transport Service/First Student, beginning his career as a mechanic and later being promoted to manage one of their locations.

John had a huge love of bowling. Among his most treasured possessions were his Amateur Bowlers Tour trophy and his cherished "300 game" ring. The sound of thunder may now make us smile, imagining that John just bowled yet another strike in Heaven.

John was predeceased by his parents Daniel Sullivan and Pauline Lukas Sullivan, brother Donald Sullivan and his daughter Joanne Sullivan Pardie. He is survived by his daughter Joyce Sullivan, son-in-law Frank Pardie and his "family of the heart" the Jacoby's: Steve and Sandi, and their daughters Jenn, Katie, and Steph, and their children to whom he was lovingly known as Uncle John. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

The family will receive friends, Friday, January 23, 2026, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at Eggers Funeral Home of Boiling Springs with a graveside service to follow at 3:00 PM, at Good Shepherd Memorial Park, Boiling Springs, South Carolina.
