Ret. Col. John J. Sweeney III, M.D., passed away on September 18, 2025, at Cooper Hospital University Medical Center in Camden, NJ. Born on July 22, 1950, in Newark, NJ, John led a life marked by dedication, service, and love.

Jack's journey through life was one of remarkable achievement and unwavering commitment. He was a devoted husband to his loving wife of 41 years, Dr. Joann Eufemia, a relationship that was a testament to their shared values and deep affection for one another. He is also survived by his siblings, Patricia Karwowski (Henry), Nancy Miglioranno (Frank), and Robert Sweeney (Jackie), and his numerous nieces and nephews.

An accomplished scholar, Jack earned his Doctor of Medicine and went on to serve his country with distinction as a Colonel in the U.S. Army. His dedication to his fellow servicemen and women continued after his military career as he served as an Attending Physician at the Veteran's Outpatient Clinic in Marlton, NJ. His colleagues and patients alike will miss his compassionate care and his unwavering dedication to the health and well-being of veterans.

Jack's commitment to community service was evident through his active involvement with the Knights of Columbus St. Mary of the Lakes Council 6520 and the Medford VFW Post 7677.

Beyond his professional and service commitments, Jack had a passion for the equestrian world. He found joy and relaxation in his role as a Horse Show Announcer at Saddlebrook Ridge Equestrian Center in Shamong, NJ. His voice, a familiar and comforting presence, will be greatly missed by all who attended the shows.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 10-11AM, at St. Mary of the Lakes R.C. Church, 40 Jackson Rd., Medford, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11AM, at the church.

Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family at the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
