Together Again
John L Thoenen, Sr (Big John), passed suddenly on January 23, 2026. John was a member of the Water Church in Akron. He received his GED from Arizona and Ohio. John retired from the City of Akron Engineering after 25 years of service.
John had many interests including construction, woodworking, old cars, motorcycles and Cleveland sports. He loved The Lord and cherished his time with the love of his life, Patricia, until her passing.
John was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Thoenen; parents Glen and Beatrice Thoenen; brother Bill; sisters Virginia-Mae and Lois. He is survived by sons John Jr (Lori) and Todd (Dawn) of Hartville; grandchildren Brandi, Joel, Emerson, Mindy, Hannah and Courteney; great-grandchildren Logan, Skyler, Alexandria, Connor, Lincoln, Beckett and Selah.
Family and friends will be received Saturday, February 21st from 11am to 12pm at Water Church, 40 E. Wilbeth Rd., Akron, OH 44301 Memorial service will begin at noon.
