It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John E. Toman, who passed away unexpectedly on October 1, 2025. John was born in Lansing, MI, on October 4, 1964, to Alfred and Alice Toman. He grew up spending time with family and friends at his family cottage on Gun Lake. His life was full of cherished memories and passionate stories that he told with joy and detail at every opportunity.
John graduated from Everett High School in Lansing, MI. While John's love of sports and especially the Michigan State Spartans, and fishing was undeniable, what he cherished more than anything was spending time with his family and friends. John leaves a legacy of memories and special moments that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Every moment spent with them was a blessing for John, creating a legacy of love and cherished family traditions.
He is preceded in death by both parents; brothers Mike and Tom Toman, and sisters Sharon Clisch and Brenda Toman.
John is survived by his best friend and love of his life, Jana Toman; children, Courtney (Kevin) Groeneveld, McKenna Toman (Camiron Galan), Madison Toman (Daniel Nowicki), and John "Chuck" Toman; grandchildren, Keenan, Kinsley, Addalynn, Lane, and Emma; brother Al Toman Jr., many adored nieces and nephews and too many treasured friends to count.
