Four Oaks, NC: Mr. John Thomas “Tommy” Vaughan, Jr., age 71, of Allen Court passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. His family will be celebrating his life with a scattering ceremony on November 22, 2025 in Nags Head.
Mr. Vaughan was born on August 19, 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late John Thomas Vaughan, Sr. and Lucy Leake Vaughan. He adored his parents and always spoke highly of his memories with them. Mr. Vaughan was raised in Elizabeth city and was a lifelong musician and music lover and was a Lead Guitarist and Vocalist from 1973 to 1983. He later moved to Newport News, VA and owned and operated a Taxi Cab from 1996 to 2017 when he moved to Four Oaks. He was a devoted husband to Alisa Hubbard Vaughan until her passing in 2009 and a loving father and grandfather. He was an avid follower of the Cleveland Guardians baseball team. Mr. Vaughan never missed an opportunity to say “I love you” and to let you know just how proud he was of his family who he cherished.
Survivors include his daughter, Christen Vaughan Love; son, Russell Matthew Vaughan; grandsons, Maurice and Braylon Love and Raphael Vaughan-Harrison; niece, Sharon Roderer; and nephews, Luke and Kent Norris.
