John "JB" Bryant Venters Jr

John "JB" Bryant Venters, Jr, a resident of Vanceboro, NC passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Washington Assembly of God officiated by Pastor Daniel Haskett and Pastor Tommi Bridgeman. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 6:00 PM until the service hour. John Bryant Venters, Jr. born in Pitt County on July 7, 1958 the son of the late John Bryant Venters, Sr and Agnes Christine Smith. He loved the river more than any other place in the world. The most important people in his life were granddaughters, who called him Fat Cat. He affectionately named them Fat Cat's Angels. JB worked hard to build a business and worked hard every day even until his final day. He meets a number of family members in heaven and his family that is left behind takes comfort in knowing he's surrounded once again by loved ones in his final home. JB is survived by his daughter: Linsey R. Prewitt (significant other Payne) of Washington, NC; three sons: Donald E. Whitehurst ll (wife Stephanie) of Washington, NC; John B. Venters, III (wife Leigh) of Vanceboro, NC; John A. Venters (significant other Makayla) of Vanceboro, NC; his former wife and the mother of his children: Barbara M. Venters. sisters: Faye O. Cassidy (husband Lewis), Delores O. Moore (husband Sidney), Jackie V. Petway (husband Earl), Mary V. Phillips (husband Gene), Wanda V. Strickland (husband Donnie); a brother: George M. Venters, grandchildren: Sumerlin Grace, Makenzie Nicole, Isabella Leigh and Aspen Reese. He was preceded in death by a sister: Ruby O.
