It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother John Vitalo,
66 years young on February 14, 2025.
Born on November 19, 1958 in Brooklyn NY he was predeceased by his parents Alfred and Joann Vitalo. He is survived by his four
sisters; Alex Vitalo of Asbury Park NJ, Virginia (Ginny) Vitalo of Flemington NJ, Marie
van Rossen (nee Vitalo) of Mt. Arlington NJ, and Laura Vitalo of Clifton NJ, and his
wonderful nieces and nephews; Isabella and Luna Vitalo and Johannes, Cristian and
Stefen van Rossen.
John lived most of his life in Monmouth County, growing up in Lincroft, attending St
Leo the Great Elementary and Red Bank Catholic High School. He graduated from
Gannon University with a BA in Communications where he was a member of Delta
Sigma Phi. He loved his family and was a devoted son, brother and uncle. His love of
the outdoors carried throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, ice hockey, horses, wild
birds, hanging out with his friends and fixing cars, especially his beloved Plymouth
Road Runner.
A memorial service will be held at the John E Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue,
Red Bank, NJ 07701 (732) 747-0332 on Friday, February 28, 2025. Viewing hours are 10
to 12 including a brief memorial service at the funeral home. He will be laid to
eternal rest at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 100 Chapel Hill Road, Middletown, NJ.
Contributions in lieu of flowers in John's memory can be made to the National
Audubon Society, the Nature Conservancy, the Arbor Day Foundation or the National
Parks.
