John Vitrano Obituary

Published by CLOSED-Crosby-N. Gray & Co. Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Apr. 27, 2017.
John Vitrano was born on Nov. 5, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He passed away on April 27, 2017 with his wife by his bedside. As a young man he attended Boys Trade and Technical High School from there he joined the Merchant Marines. In 1948 he enlisted in the Army and served with the 1st Calvary in Japan. In 1950 his company commander chose and offered him a position with the Honor Guards to serve and protect General Douglas MacArthur and family. When returning home in 1952, he made San Francisco his new home. This is where he met the love of his life, Jeanne Suriani. They were married in 1956 and were happy together the next 61 years. At that time he started his new career as a lithographer with Schwabacher & Carlisle in San Francisco. In 1965 they moved down the Peninsula to Millbrae and this is where they lived until his passing. He was a happy easy going man, who adored life and his wife, whether traveling around to six continents or volunteering their time at Peninsula hospital, he was smiling and happy to see you. John was a member of the Masons, San Mateo Lodge No. 224 and the San Mateo Elks Lodge. He was a kind and generous man and will be deeply missed by the family and friends he had along this journey of life. Friends and family may visit on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm and a funeral service on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 11:00am at Crosby-N. Gray & Co., 2 Park Road, Burlingame, CA 94010. Entombment to follow at Skylawn Memorial Park, San Mateo, CA.
