John Vugrin Obituary
John was born May 22, 1933 to John and Mary Vugrin in Port Carbon, PA. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the U S Navy and was honorably discharged from the Air Anti-Submarine Squad in 1954. Afterwards he went on to study at San Diego State University, obtaining a teaching degree and worked his way up to obtaining his doctorate. He was employed by the Chula Vista City School District throughout his career until he retired in 1993 as Superintendent. After retiring he filled his time teaching at Point Loma College and enjoying his passions for traveling, gardening, and his orchids.
John was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Donna Vugrin. He is survived by his three children, Karen McNeill, John P. Vugrin and Juliea Brandon, and one brother Bernard Vugrin.
A catholic mass will be dedicated to both he and his wife in March. Afterwards they will be to rest together at Miramar Cemetary in San Diego."

John, you stand relieved from your watch. A job well done fellow Air Anti-Submarine squadron navy veteran.(VS-27). America thanks you for your service to our country in the defense of freedom. The carrier has turned into the wind, preparing for your final journey. The final volley has sounded and taps is about to begin, ending a successful career as a nation´s defender. Smooth sailing shipmate.
