John Wagner Obituary

John "Jack" F. Wagner

John "Jack" F. Wagner, age 87 of Grove City, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Mt. Carmel Hospital in Grove City.

He was born in Maumee, Ohio, on August 17, 1938, to the late Gordon L. and Eva E. (Heminger) Wagner. In 1963, after a chance encounter, he married Annette A. Frank in Toledo. Together they shared 60 years, raising a family, and experienced the joys of life through thick and thin until her sad passing in 2023.

Before retiring on July 4, 1993, John worked as a welder with Columbia Gas for 35 years. Never with idle hands, he enjoyed tinkering on various projects. He was a self-proclaimed inventor, always looking to create a new idea.

He was a member of Community of Christ Lutheran Church in Whitehouse, Ohio, where he and his family lived for over 50 years before moving to Grove City. John served in the 180th Air National Guard Fighter Wing and was also a member of the Model A and T Club's, as well as the Craftsman Guild in Toledo.

With traits from the old school, he was generous to a fault. Determined in his appearance, he saw to it that every hair was always in place. He was a resourceful thinker, always looking for a different or better way to do things. John was also skilled in the kitchen; both he and his wife took a passion for cooking for people and in large portions. The bigger the bowl or pot, the better. Known for his big, hearty breakfast meals, no one left his house hungry.

Those left to cherish his memory include children, Rob (Jodee) Wagner, Doug Wagner, Cindy (Matt) Kah; 5 grandchildren: Andrew (Alicia Rittenour), Nathen, Kaelyn Wagner, Ryan, and Colin Kah; and a great-grandson, Grayson Wagner.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Gordon; and sister, Bonnie Stamm.

Dates for a celebration of life service will be announced in the near future, with inurnment in the Highland Memory Gardens near Waterville, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder Funeral Center in Delaware, OH.
