John Whicker Obituary
John Neldon Whicker, 56, passed away Thursday, January 8, 2009 at his home in Payson.
He was born January 14, 1952 in Fillmore Utah to Dean Swallow and Marlene Adams Whicker.
John married his high school sweetheart Jana McBride on August 4, 1972 in the Manti Temple.
He enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing and fast cars, but above all he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. You never left a conversation with John without a laugh and a smile, and rarely did you get the last laugh. He worked hard at entertaining patrons at the tire shop providing all you can eat popcorn and suckers for the kids. His children and many Payson youth reaped the benefits of his dedicated coaching in various sports.
He is survived by his wife Jana, mother Marlene, children (Jeremy (Brenda), Jodi (Jake) Beck, Jarret (Colette), Jami), and 9 grandchildren (Cade, Jace, Coleman, Porter, Dreyton, Colby, Abigail, Alli, Keller), siblings Deann (Russ) Wiley, Paula (Kendall) Quarnberg and James Whicker and many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Dean Swallow Whicker.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 12, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Payson South Stake Center, 650 West 800 South, Payson. A viewing will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, and one hour prior to the services at Stake Center.
