Betty Russell Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 31, 2023.
With great sadness, we announce the passing of Betty Ann Russell, from Grand Rapids, MI into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on October 28, 2023. She was surrounded by her loving family after a 13-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
Betty was born on September 23, 1946, in Greenville, MI to Charles and Jane (Howorth) Bradley who preceded her in death. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1965. She was a devoted wife to Glenn Russell, her loving husband of over 56 years. Together, they created a warm, welcoming home where they loved to host friends.
Betty was a wonderful mother to her two children, Deena (Jonathan Lohr), and Jason (Ziv) Russell. Her love for her children was a guiding force in her life, and she was immensely proud of their accomplishments and the people they grew to be.
She was also a proud grandmother to her five grandchildren: Sydney (Hunter) Kelly, Jordan Lagestee, Elizabeth Lohr, Camilla and Marianna Russell. Betty's grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished the time she spent with them. Her love and wisdom will continue to guide them throughout their lives.
She and Glenn attended Ada Bible Church Knapp Campus and cherished her small group community, with her joyful spirit and kind heart, touching the lives of everyone she met. Betty lived a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. She loved spending time with family and friends, and she had a knack for making everyone feel special and loved. She was known for her serving heart, welcoming hospitality and her deep care and concern for others.
She also had a passion for travel. Betty's adventurous spirit took her to various parts of the world, creating countless memories along the way.
Betty's life was a testament to her faith in God, her love for her family, and her commitment to her friends. She lived her life with endurance and courage, always putting others before herself. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her memory will forever be a beacon of love and strength to her loved ones and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but we know she is with her Lord and Savior, the foundation she built her life upon.

Betty was a good friend. She and my husband, Dave grew up as neighbors in Greenville on Lake Street. He has wonderful memories of their time together. She was always so good to stay in touch and she will be greatly missed. We rejoice in her love for Jesus. I know she is with Him and in no more pain.
