John "Dan" Whitesell, 77, of Cresco, passed away in his home on Saturday, March 29, 2025.
Born in Easton he was the son of the late John and Annabel (Jones) Whitesell. Dan was the beloved husband of Glynna (Sallee) Whitesell with whom he shared 31 years of marriage.
Dan was a graduate of Wilson High School, class of 1966, and served in the Air Force as a Security Police Officer, and was a Vietnam Veteran. Shortly after his discharge he became a member of the Barrett Township Police Department in Monroe County which he served in that position for 18 years. He then ran for the office of Magisterial District Judge and was in the position for a total of 24 years. As a Judge he served the townships of Barrett, Price, Paradise, and also the Borough of Mount Pocono. He retired from that position and then went on to become a Sr. Magisterial District Judge. He Worked in that capacity in Lackawanna, Carbon and numerous courts in Monroe County. His last and final act was to donate his body to medical science with the hopes that others may benefit. There will be no viewing or memorial service.
In addition to his wife Glynna; Dan, will be lovingly remembered by his children, Heather Whitesell, and her husband, Bryan Nelson, Jane Whitesell, and her husband, Tim Parry, Jennifer Wieboldt, Heather Manuel, and her husband, Jack Manuel, and William Wieboldt; grandchildren: William Brown, Chrissy Siptroth, and her husband, Ben Siptroth, Nickolas Parry, Tyler Parry, Carly Ciarlone, and Amelia Ciarlone; great-grandchildren, James Siptroth and Elizabeth Siptroth; and his nephew, Jeffrey Whitesell.
Dan was predeceased in death by his sister, Donna Bielanski, and his brother, Michael Whitesell.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dan's name to Paul's House, the Valor Clinic in Kunkletown, or Wounded Warrior Project. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of John "Dan" Daniel Whitesell, please visit our Tree Store.
