John Wilding, 49, passed away on March 3, 2025, in Winter Park, Florida. Born on February 6, 1976, in Louisville, Kentucky, John grew up in Florida and built a life filled with family, faith, and a deep passion for racing.
John attended Bishop Moore Catholic High School in Orlando before earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to co-found FAS Windows and Doors in 2005 alongside his father, Ernie Wilding. As president and CEO, John was deeply respected by his employees and colleagues throughout Central Florida.
Beyond his professional achievements, John's greatest joys were his family and racing. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Wilding, and their son, Logan John Wilding. His parents, Mary and Ernie Wilding; sister Kristin Schwieger and her husband Jason; brother Michael Wilding; and sister Lindsey Wooten and her husband Chip were all integral parts of his life.
John's love for racing began in Daytona Beach at the Daytona International Speedway alongside his father. Together, they formed FAS Autosports in 1999. A talented driver and strategist, John earned multiple awards and victories while competing with his father. His contributions to Level1 Racing in the Champ Car Series helped secure a national championship title. Well known within the racing community for both his skill and sportsmanship, John left an indelible mark on the sport he loved.
Faith played a significant role in John's life. In his early years, he served as an altar server at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Daytona Beach. After receiving a diagnosis that challenged him physically but never diminished his spirit, he traveled with the Order of Malta to Lourdes, France. There he found peace and comfort in facing the unknown without fear. Since 1990, John had been a devoted member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Winter Park.
John was known for his fun-loving nature and selflessness-always putting others before himself. Whether through business leadership or time spent at the racetrack with family and friends, he brought warmth and generosity to those around him.
A Funeral Mass will take place on March 25, 2025, at 10:30 AM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church (526 N Park Ave., Winter Park, FL 32789). If unable to attend, a live stream video of the Funeral Mass can be found at StMargaretMary.org.
John's legacy lives on through the love he shared with family and friends and the impact he made within both the business world and racing community. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.
