On October 30, 2023 God saw fit to send his angels to claim his precious soul John Oliver Williams.
John Oliver Williams was born on February 27, 1944 to The late John Oliver and Mary Williams (who preceded him in death). John was a very helpful child and loved his mother and siblings with all his heart. John moved from Tunica Mississippi to Chicago, Illinois, where he met the love of his life Norma Williams. On August 12, 1968 John and Norma Williams were married, to this union ten children were born and they adopted two children. John Williams accepted Christ on October 28, 2023 shortly thereafter after he made a peaceful transition.
John worked alongside his best friend, Leroy Pugh at Pugh and sons before accepting a job at Headstone Company where he worked until he retired. John enjoyed working with his hands and he was proud to work for a company that was helping others. He would drop whatever he was doing to help someone with any issues that may occurred.
John was a very encouraging and friendly person and would converse with anyone, he had an outgoing personality. He was an avid sports fan, his love for basketball was undeniable. He taught his sons, nephews and anyone who desire to learn how to play basketball.
John also had a love for music, he was an energetic music savant and could convey more than a note;he had a velvet sound with an octave range. His brother George and their cousins had a group where they would perform often. Later on in life you would oftentimes find John singing to his great grandchildren songs that he would makeup with a smile.
John was his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren number one fan he cheered them on in whatever they were desire to do. He was and stood as a father figure to his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews he made them feel welcome and loved. He valued family and showed it throughout the years.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted and loving wife, Norma Jean Williams, five daughters, Victoria, Marcia, Lisa, Tawanda, and Dominique. Seven sons, Rodney, Frederick, Timmy, Kevin, Devin, Catrell and Johnny; three brothers, Eugene Williams of Tunica, Mississippi, Clinton Gale (Lana) Olive Branch, Mississippi, and James Gale (Carolyn) of Chicago IL. Twenty-six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; along with two honorary daughter, Annie Jean Williams (Columbia, SC) and Fonda Lollar (Chicago, Illinois) and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pops was great in his own rights, he was a blessing regardless of his circumstances and short comings.
He was blessed to be given the opportunity of experiencing love from a 4th generation whom he loved as well.
I hope and pray my family can draw off the fact he spent the last 12 years of his life in the present of his family being loved let´s draw comfort in that and understand God, Dad and family made it possible.
So we love you dad and we will never forget you for being an anchor in our lives.
