John Samuel "J.S." Williams, age 76, of
Clinton, Tennessee, passed peacefully on January 4, 2026, surrounded by his family and is now with his Lord and Savior.
Born on March 8, 1949, in
Lancing, Tennessee, J.S. lived a life defined by devotion to his family, unwavering faith, and a remarkable work ethic. He was a loving father and husband whose steady presence and generous spirit shaped the lives of everyone who knew him.
J.S. spent many years working for ORUD, beginning in July 1977 and continuing until his retirement in April 1999. During his time there, he inspired countless coworkers with his dedication, integrity, and quiet leadership. He received numerous awards and recognitions including a formal recognition from The American Public Gas Association and Ranger Insurance - climbing to the top of a burning propane storage facility to close a valve, extinguish the fire, and prevent what could have been a devastating loss of life. His courage that day became one of the defining stories of his life, remembered by many with deep gratitude.
Outside of work, J.S. found joy in simple pleasures. He loved to play golf and fish, but his greatest passion was restoring old vehicles. A man of many talents, he poured countless hours into classic cars - from intricate paint jobs to complete rebuilds. His craftsmanship, patience, and pride in his work were evident in every project he touched. His large garage was always full of many cars from friends and neighbors needing his mechanical expertise.
Above all, J.S. was a man of great faith. He witnessed to many, offering encouragement, hope, and the love of Christ wherever he went. His kindness, humility, and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on his family, friends, and community. He was deeply loved and widely respected, and his legacy will continue through the many lives he touched.
J.S. is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy Williams; his sons Dean Williams, Jason Williams, and Mitchell Williams (Michelle); and his daughter Jill Arwood (Mark). He was a proud grandfather to Matthew Lewis, Justin Williams, Kailyn Williams, Dean Williams, Joey Keathley, and Summer Bowser. He was also blessed with many great grandchildren.
He is survived by his sisters Wanda Williams, JoAnn Garner, Huey Faircloth, and Shirley Williams, as well as many very special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Addy and Hugh Williams; his son, John Samuel Williams Jr.; Grandson, Joshua Ray Williams and Great Grandson, Landon Josiah Williams and the mother of his children, Phyllis Williams.
