John Willingham Obituary
John Robert Willingham, Jr. was born October 13, 1969 in Starkville, Mississippi. He had been a resident of Tyler since 2017, formerly living in Gladewater and Dallas. He graduated from Cypress Creek High School in Houston in 1987 and then obtained his bachelor's degree from LeTourneau University and his MBA from UT Tyler. He worked as an engineer in the oil field for several different companies over the years.
John, or Rob as his close friends and family called him, passed away at the age of 54 on April 17, 2024 in Tyler. He was preceded in death by his father, John Robert Willingham, Sr.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John Michael & Emily Willingham of Tyler; mother, Jane Willingham of Tyler; sister, Rebecca Willingham of Hockley; brother and sister-in-law, Michael Willingham (Laura) of Maryland; stepsons, Riley and Joshua; stepdaughters, Holly and Lonna; nieces, Christina, Catherine, and Madelyn; and one nephew, James.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or any charity that benefits veterans.

There are so many memories, how can I pick just one? Most knew him as Rob, but to me he´ll always be Daddy John. Daddy John came into my life when I was 16, bless his heart. He was the smartest man I´ve ever met. He and his patented Johnologies always made life interesting. Asking Daddy John to help with homework would turn a simple assignment into a college dissertation. He must have gotten his smarts from his momma. He was always quoting her. He really was the best stepdad a young woman could ask for. He taught me to trust people. He taught his granddaughter to ride her first bike. He walked me down the aisle. He inspired me to get my own education. My favorite is that he took me on my first real family vacation. Daddy John never made me feel like a stepdaughter. To him, I was just his daughter. I will always remember our time together. I love you Daddy John.
