Memorial Service for Mr. John Wilton "Doc" Peters, 90, of Daviston, will be Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 2:00 pm at the New Site United Methodist Church. Keith Lightsey and Dale McCain will officiate. The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 29, 2022 from 1:00 pm to 2:00pm at New Site United Methodist Church.
Mr. Peters passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at his residence. He was born on June 13, 1932 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama to John Vesper Peters and Henrietta Veazey Peters. Doc worked at NAPA Auto Parts in Alex City for over 50 years before opening Perryville Auto Parts in New Site. He loved to coon hunt with his friends; loved his family as well as fishing and hunting in his younger days. He enjoyed working in the garden and plowing the tractor. One of Doc's pleasures in life was aggravating people and disagreeing with the group.
He is survived by his daughter, Becky Goggins of Shelby, AL; son, Kebo Peters of New Site, AL; granddaughter, Jamie Screws; great-grandchildren, Timberly Lovvorn (Seth), Lakelyn Fortenberry, Bear Screws; great-great-grandchild, Birdie Ann Lovvorn; a host of nieces and nephews; and brother, Jack Peters of New Site.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 68 years, Gaye Nell Peters; son-in-law, David Goggins; sister, Peggy Blasingame; brothers, Harold Peters and Homer Peters.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the New Site United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund. 101 Church Road, New Site, AL 36256 or to your favorite charity.
The family would like to extend a thank you to the EnHabit staff for going above and beyond the call of duty in caring for daddy. They would also like to say thank you to Vicky Long for all you did for daddy.
