John Ernest Wolfarth

John was born on January 17, 1925 and passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015. John was a resident of Fostoria, Ohio at the time of his passing. John was a 1943 Fostoria High School graduate and a 1967 University of Toledo graduate having received a Bachelor's Degree in Education. John was a U.S Navy Veteran having served during WWII in the Pacific Theater on the Destroyer Escort USS Connolly as a motor machinist's mate. He participated in major engagements in Iwo Jima Okinawa and the Philippines and was honorably discharged at the end of the war having received the Victory Medal American Area Campaign Medal Artistic Pacific Area Campaign Medal and the Philippine Liberation Ribbon. He was preceded in death by his wife Janice. Visitation will be held on Wednesday September 16 2015 from 2-6 pm at MANN-HARE-HOENING FUNERAL HOME 407 N. Countyline St. Fostoria 44830. Funeral services will be held at Hope Lutheran Church in Fostoria on Thursday September 17 2015 beginning at 10 am the Rev. Dr. Larry Knigga officiating. A U.S. Navy funeral detail will be present to provide Mr. Wolfarth with Navy funeral honors. Burial will follow in Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria where the United Veterans of Fostoria will also provide military honors. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church.
