Funeral services celebrating the life of John Franklin Woods will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023, at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Chapel, 943 Polk Street, Mansfield, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Dr. Chad Hardbarger. Interment will follow at Sloan Cemetery, Mansfield, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at Kilpatrick’s Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Mansfield, Louisiana.
John Franklin Woods was born in Mansfield, Louisiana to the parents of John E. Woods and Ida Bell Cordova Woods. He lived in the Carmel Community on Daw Road his whole life. He retired from Valley Electric as a lineman with 31 years of service. He loved all his family and animals.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, infant sister, Elizabeth Ann Woods, and several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Cathy D. Woods, five children, Emily Hardin, Elaina and husband Scott Layfield, Lee Ellen and Johnathan Flores, Alisha and husband James Graves, and Kelly Elmore; granddaughters, Kelsey Ober Kimery and husband Daniel, Auburn Tulley, Katelin Newton, Kelsey Hunter, Courtney and Erin Graves; five grandsons, Derek Ober, Thorne Ober (Madison Girour), Johnathan Tulley, Kaleb Williams, and William Miller; two great grandsons, Oliver Ober and Cash Cameron; sister, Sandra Prudhome, nephew, Jamie and wife Krista May; great niece, Kate Ann May; and several cousins and friends. A great -grandson, Thorne Robert Ober, Jr., on the way.
He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Honoring John as pallbearers will be Jeremy Phillips, Dale Jones, Brian Evans, Brandon Lagars, Bill Deloach, and Waymon Beshea. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Flores, James Graves, Dee Beshea, Johnny Procell, Floyd (Jake) Ford.
