LIMA -- John Randall Wooldridge, age 81, passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside. John was born on May 6, 1944, in Santa Monica, CA, to the late John A. and Nellie (Dalrymple) Wooldridge Sr. On May 27, 1978, he married his wife of 47 years, Janice E. (Sterns) Wooldridge, after meeting at a Kings of Hearts dance. They both shared a love of traveling after retirement. John graduated from Las Cruces High School in New Mexico, where he was an excellent student. John came to Ohio, where he worked and retired from Ford Motor Company.
John is survived by his wife, Janice of Lima, close friend, Missy Rowe of Elida, Daughter, Deanna (John Paul) Vincent of Albuquerque, NM, step-daughter, Tracy (Cliff) Carr of IN, and step-son, Shawn Leass of the Virgin Islands. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dwight Wooldridge.
The family would like to thank Primrose Retirement Community of Lima for the excellent love and care John received for the last 5 years. He always felt like family. John had a great love for animals, especially dogs, and could name everyone he had ever owned.
At John's request, donations can be made to Deb's Dogs of Lima, Ohio, or the Animal Services Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico, in his memory.
There will be a funeral service held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Chiles-Laman Funeral and Cremation Services, Shawnee Chapel. Officiating the service will be Pastor Andrew Shields. A private burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Findlay, OH, following the service.
Friends may visit on Wednesday from 12 noon until the time of the funeral at 1:00 pm at the Shawnee Chapel.
