Obituary of John Duran Wright
Hillsboro, Tennessee – Mr. John Duran Wright, age 69, of Hillsboro, TN, passed from this life on Monday, June 5, 2023, in Nashville, TN.
Mr. Wright was the father of Lia & Eve, Pappy to Alex, AvaGrace, Annalea, Aevin & 43-year-long husband to Kamilla, John Wright was unbreakably loyal and talented beyond measure but knew when to let others shine. He was proud but simple in his humble appreciation of others. He was born in Knoxville on July 9, 1953, to John H and Ada B. Wright, John lived in Manchester and graduated from Coffee County Central High in 1971 and Tennessee Technological University in 1978. His career spanned many decades and began at Coffee County Central High and Coffee County Jr. High, where he taught chorus and was the assistant band director. He also taught in the Tullahoma and Bedford County school systems before returning to Coffee County and teaching music at North Coffee Elementary School for many years.
John served as the music director for The First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Tullahoma, Tennessee, for 9 years and later at The Manchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church for 29 years. He also served as the lay speaker and music director of The Hillsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Church for many years.
His passion was to share his talent, develop the talent of others, and instill the love of music and theatre in the children he taught. John left a legacy that has touched our community and will live on for years to come through his thousands of students. His grumpy self was greatly loved by his family.
Visitation with the family will be held Sunday, June 11, 2023, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm at Manchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Manchester, TN, with funeral services to follow at 5pm at the church. Burial will follow at Hillsboro Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Hillsboro, TN.
