John ("Jack") William Wright
Born in Brooklyn, New York on January 31st, 1951.
John passed away at the age of 72 in Boynton Beach, Florida on July 30th, 2023.
John will be lovingly remembered by his ex-wife Andrea, his son Russell and his daughter Courtney. Also, by his brothers James (Doris) Wright and Tom Wright. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank V. Wright Sr. and Gladys and his brother Frank V. Wright Jr.
He was a true patriot. John served his country in the United States Army as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division, in 1970. After leaving the Army in 1972, he spent 30 years as a lineman with the phone company on Long Island, New York. In 1999 he retired to Delray Beach, Florida where he was a property manager for a beachfront condominium for 10 years.
After he retired for the second time, he enjoyed road trips with his family, in which he was always in charge of the snacks. He loved ziplining in Costa Rica and fishing whenever he got the chance. John was a huge New York Giants and New York Yankees fan. His children certainly got their love of sports from him. He was a rollercoaster enthusiast, loved Reese's peanut butter cups and Diet Coke ("with a piece of lime"). He was known for making soup. Everyone loved all the different kinds he made, and his one rule was you had to return the container or "no more soup for you".
He was an active member in the American Legion Post 65, Delray Beach where he served as Sergeant at Arms and also an active member of the VFW Post 5335, Boynton Beach.
John was the sweetest, most calm, easy-going person you could ever meet and anyone that met him instantly liked him. He made the world a better place simply by being in it.
A funeral service in memory of John will be held on Monday August 7th at 2:30pm at the South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449.
A celebration of life will be held at the American Legion Post 65 in Delray Beach following the service at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Legion Post 65.

John,
It is a scientific fact that "Energy cannot be created nor destroyed". That statement describes the Law of Conservation of Energy, a fundamental principle in physics stating energy remains constant in an isolated system, changing forms (like chemical to mechanical and as I believe, from physical to metaphysical) or moving between objects, but never appearing or vanishing. What this means is that nothing really dies.
So John, we know that your energy is alive, is around us and is watching over your loved ones.

John was, simply put....a good dude. In life, it is not often that you cross paths with someone who really cared about others.

My condolences to the family of Jack Wright. I knew Jack as a snowbird visitor allowed to attend the VFW Post 5335, Boynton Beach meetings. He is a fellow 101st Airborne Screaming Eagle of Vietnam (1969-1970). I too was born in Brooklyn, and a resident of Nassau County, Long Island. Will miss seeing Jack at So. Florida veteran events. I am a member of American Legion Post 164 and part of their Honor Guard, but am currently up at my Long Island residence and will not be able to attend his services at SFNC.
Rest in Peace, Jack and Welcome Home Brother .
