John Michael Wright

John Michael Wright passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024, at the age of 88, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. John was born on February 10, 1936, in Springfield, Illinois.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Harry E. Wright and Nina (nee Carney) Wright and the love of his life, Joan "Jo" Marie (nee Pawer) Wright.
John is also preceded in death by their infant son, Daniel; his brother, Monsignor Patrick Wright; sisters, Marilyn (Ross) Thomas and Eileen (Frank) Metzger; brother-in-law, William Staab; daughters-in-law, Karen L. (nee Bacino) Wright and Stephanie L. (nee Orme) Wright.
John is survived by his sister, Nancy Staab of Monroe, Louisiana. John is survived by his five children, John II (Mary Beth) of St. Charles, Illinois, Patrick of Stockbridge, Michigan, Pamela (Jeff) Purcell of St. Charles, Illinois, Timothy (Jean) Wright of Cumming, Georgia and Jeffrey Wright of Fishers, Indiana; eleven grandchildren, Nicole (Matt) Krimmer, Alyson (Brian) McMeans, John (Maria) Wright III, Daniel (Emily) Wright, Courtney Wright (fiancé, Brandon Fabian), Shane (Ana) Wright, Lauren Wright, Sean Wright, Shaelyn Wright Michael I. Wright, and Catherine V. Wright; and he was blessed with ten great grandchildren.
John and Jo were married for 60 years. Both John and Jo graduated from Marquette University where they met. John worked for most of his career at Laidlaw Brothers, in the textbook division. John used his many talents at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church serving on the Parish Council, Finance Committee, Diocesan Service appeal and the Ushers Society where he was a member for 57 years.
The family is deeply grateful for the care and dedication given by Pearl as well as his Hospice team, Andrea and Robin at Trinity Health at Home Southeast Michigan. The family is also appreciative of the weekly visits by his grandson, Shane and granddaughter, Lauren.
A visitation will be held for family and friends on Monday, August 19, 2024 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm at Nie Funeral Home - Liberty Chapel, 3767 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48103.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at 10:00am, Fr. William Ashbaugh as celebrant, with visitation beginning at 9:30am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 530 Elizabeth St., Ann Arbor, MI 48104. The final resting place will be Calvary Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois.
