For whom do we write these memories? Not the deceased as hopefully the thoughts and feelings were directly communicated while they were with us. The family? It is apparent that he was loved and appreciated for all of his many positive attributes. So it´s for ourselves and perhaps the folks that take the time to read these things. We were childhood friends and really more than that. My family and the Yanni family were close. I have more fond memories than I can recall of the richness and comfort the Yanni family extended to mine. But it is John who left without saying goodbye and knowing him, that would have been considered rude behavior. Kind, thoughtful, possessed with enormous intellect, funny, and tolerant. That was John. Big mind, and in these times a welcomed respite from sanctioned coarse and rude behavior at the highest level. Even among those lost types he exhibited an openness to listen and understand.
I think of you daily and still trying to wrap my head around that you are no longer here to share stories of our beloved Lebanon and just about anything else on our minds. We didn´t speak often but each time we did, it was as if no time had passed. So, dear friend, I´ll always remember your warmth and easy way, and keep our memories as the chest of treasure that they are.

Both are parents worked the beach life. His house was on the beach right where our street ended on A1A. We had a beautiful Irish Setter named Chanie that always escaped & ended at John´s house numerous times. He talked about how much he liked the dog often & we would meet mid way to get the dog back. We reconnected thru Facebook, we had many serious conversations about politics & other world problems. He was so smart & I enjoyed his photography. The last few years he was bummed about some of his family life problems that weighed heavily on him. John was kind & thoughtful, he will be missed. John, it was great to know you for about 60 years! You are at Peace now.
