John Steven Yatsko, 95, of Fleetwood, PA, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025 at the Reading Hospital.

He was the husband of Nancy (Beck) Yatsko who he married December 31, 1983.

Born November 26, 1930, in Luzerne, PA, he was the son of the late Joseph Yatsko and Anna (Lazar) Yatsko.

John proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1955. He was stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Francisco, CA, and held the rank of Staff Sergeant. He volunteered to enter the Korean War where was deployed from 1952 to 1953. After returning from service he worked as an electrician for NGK Metals and Beryllium, in Muhlenberg Township for 26 years, retiring in 1985.

After retiring he was still active in the community. John was a member of the US Department of Veterans Affairs and R.M. Butterweck Detachment #465 Marine Corps League. He was also a Marine Corps Army Recruiter in Reading and Lewistown.

In John's free time he enjoyed spending time outdoors. In the summer time he was an avid fresh and salt water fisherman. As well as playing golf and watching the Phillies. When the fall season came around he enjoyed hunting and cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles.

Surviving are four children: Debra (Yatsko) Wright, wife of Richard of Oley; Jo Ann (Yatsko) Theriault, wife of Donald of Tuscan, AZ; Susan (Yatsko) Schardt of Orange Grove, CA; and David Yatsko, husband of Sue (Vernagis) of Fleetwood, PA. As well as one step child, Dee (Miller) Schreiber, wife of Harry of Glenville, PA.

Four grandchildren are surviving: Jillian (Wright) Tustin; Amie (Wright) Edwards; Lauren (Schardt), wife of Loren Fraser; and Kristen (Schardt) Corral. Two step grandchildren are surviving, Isaac Meyer, and Bridget Meyer.

John leaves behind two great grandchildren, Fiona Fraser and Ainslee Wieneke.

He was predeceased by his step daughter, Kim (Barlet) Meyer.

John was also predeceased by his first wife, Mary Ann (Torbik) Yatsko, and one brother, Joseph Yatsko.

A service will be held, Tuesday 11 a.m. at the Stitzel Family Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc., Laureldale, 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale, PA 19605. A viewing will take place prior from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the same location. Burial will follow the service at Gethsemane Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Disabled Veterans National Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
