Obituary of John S. Zicchinolfi

John S. Zicchinolfi, 80, of Jackson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at the Orchards at Bartley. John was born and raised in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn. He lived in the Huguenot section of Staten Island before moving to Jackson in 2006. John served his country in the United States Army Reserves. First serving as a Police Officer in the NYPD for the City of New York, he retired as a Lieutenant for the FDNY with over 20 years of dedication to his city. Upon retiring from the FDNY, John was a Fire & Safety Inspector for the Federal Government's General Services Administration and traveled throughout the country and beyond, including Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and many other locations. A man who loved to cook, fish, and golf, he always had a good time, especially with a Martini in hand. John was a longtime bocce player and enjoying being on a team in his Metedeconk community. He was a talented, funny writer who loved to pen novellas and short stories about his friends and family. John was a legitimate MacGyver, who could build or fix anything. He spent the last 20 years going to Naples, Florida and relished every moment he spent with family, extended family and friends.

John was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Zicchinolfi and siblings, Ralph, Jerry, Vinny and Rose. He is survived by his wife, Catherine "Kitty" Zicchinolfi; three sons, John Zicchinolfi and his wife, Christine, Michael Zicchinofli and his wife, Rosa, and Stephen Zicchinolfi and his wife, Alexis; eight grandchildren, John, Nicholas, Isabella, Olivia, Matthew, Lucia, Angelina, and Emily; Kitty's children and grandchildren, with whom he was very close; and his nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A visitation will be held at the Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, 100 Elton-Adelphia Road (route 524), Freehold Township on Sunday, March 22, 2026 from 1:00 to 5:00 PM.
