Johnnie Davenport Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Green Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery - Sapulpa on Dec. 11, 2025.
Johnnie Frances Shook Davenport was born on May 10, 1943, in Ada, Oklahoma. She was the third child of Robert and Nathelee Shook.

She graduated from Ada High School. She married Jimmie Lynn Hurley, and they had one son Ronald Jim Hurley. Then, in 1988, she met and married Tommy Davenport. Johnnie also attended East Central State College, as well as Oklahoma Baptist University.

Johnnie worked as a certified nurse for three years, a telephone operator for 12 years, and an equipment supervisor for 13 years.

She moved around quite often throughout her lifetime. She lived in Ada, Oklahoma, Shawnee, Oklahoma, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Edmond, Oklahoma, Midwest City, Oklahoma, Glenpool, Oklahoma, Bixby, Oklahoma, Rogers, Arkansas, Houston, Texas, and Dallas, Texas. Though she never lived in Louisiana, she loved traveling to Shreveport for their seafood, and their racetrack.

Johnnie loved fishing (which she got from her dad who taught her at an early age), sewing, embroidery, quilting, and skirt and dress making (all from her mom), and reading, cross stitching, and doing crossword puzzles.

She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Norma Sue Shook and Robbie Jean Shook Tackett, her son Ronald Jim Hurley, and her husband Tommy Davenport.

Johnnie is survived by niece Alicia Kirksey, granddaughters Taylor Hurley Perry, Tiona Hurley Raper, and Tarron Gaches, six great granddaughters, and three great grandsons.
