It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Johnnie Strain Mascagni 80, of Greenville, MS, who passed away peacefully on March 31st. She leaves behind a legacy of love and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Johnnie Strain Mascagni was born on November 17th 1944 in Belzoni, MS to Johnny Strain and Lorene Strain Maxwell. She lived in Greenville, MS the majority of her life where she and her husband of 60 years, Jimmy Mascagni, raised their family. She dedicated her life to her family and all the children she cared for at her daycare for 45 years. Johnnie's reach was as far as it was wide, and she was cherished deeply by many.
Johnnie will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Jimmy Mascagni, children, Sharyl Mascagni, Lori (Glenn) Muncher, Reece (Traci) Mascagni, Rita (Derek) Joseph, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
She is joined in rest by her mother Lorene, father Johnny, brothers JT Woods, JD Red Pierce, sisters, Inez McPhail, Jean Downs, along with many other loved ones throughout her life.
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Mortimer Funeral Home, Greenville, MS. Visitation will be 11:00-12:00 with service to follow. Burial will be at the Belzoni Cemetery at 2:30p.m.
Pallbearers include Brent Tharp, Miller Tharp, John Michael Muncher, Grant Muncher, Gage Hitt and Greyson Madary. Honorary pallbearers are Glenn Muncher and Bobby Joe Turner.
Johnnie's loss is deeply felt by her immense family and all those who knew and loved her. Her memory will continue to live on and inspire strength, resilience, and generosity in those whose lives she touched. We ask that in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, an organization that Johnnie deeply cared about.
