Johnny “Poppa” Bourgeois, 79, a native and resident of Cut Off went to his rest peacefully on Friday, October 24th, 2025.

Mr. Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 60 years: Laura P. Bourgeois; children: Barry John Bourgeois (Tracy) and Laurie Lynn Doucet (Karl) grandchildren: Allie Segura (Justin), John Bourgeois (Angélle), Dr. Alex Bourgeois (Kyllie Mae), and Austin Doucet (Camille); great grandchildren: Brooks and Ryan Doucet and Ryker Segura; siblings: Patsy Angelle, James Bourgeois; brother in law: Ned A. Pitre; and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Bourgeois was preceded in death by his parents: Pierre J. Bourgeois Jr. and Hilda Gautreaux Bourgeois; brother: Robert “Bobby” Bourgeois; nephew: Robert “Skunky” Bourgeois, Jr.; father and mother in law: Lawson and Wilma Pitre.

Mr. Johnny enjoyed bowling, fishing, buying lottery tickets hoping to win and loved his family.

His family would like to thank the staff of St. Joseph Hospice, Lady of the Sea Home Health, and sitters; Sonya Dantin, Stacy and Antoinette for their care and compassion.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cut Off on Thursday, October 30th, 2025 from 10:00 am until service time. A Celebration of Mr. Johnny’s life will begin at 12 noon with burial following in the Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. Johnny’s family asks for donation to the Thibodaux Cancer Center in his name.
