He was born in Jackson County on June 10, 1943, to the late Albert and Bertha Bumgarner. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Alice Passmore.
Johnny worked 37+ years at Champion Papers and was of the Baptist Faith.
The family he leaves behind is his wife of 62 years, Susan Mull Bumgarner; daughter, Carolyn Bumgarner Mintz (Greg Revis), and her son Andrew Mintz (Heather Disman) and their son Kaden; daughter, Allyson Bumgarner and her son, Chris (Heather Reed) and her two daughters,Chloe and Lylah; a son, Jason Bumgarner and his wife Alison Kirkpatrick Bumgarner; a sister, Judy Cucumber and her husband, Frank and their daughter Angela (Tad); sister, Joline Hall and her family; and his mother in law, Virginia Mull.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Crawford Ray Memorial Gardens with Tyler Trantham officiating.
