April 28, 1942 – December 16, 2023
La Grange-Johnny Gordon Coley, 81, passed away at his home on Saturday, December 16, 2023. Johnny was born in Wayne County to the late Arnold Curtis and Mary Julia Carter Coley on April 28, 1942. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Head Coley; siblings, Arnold Coley, Roy Coley; and nephew, Steve Coley.
Johnny owned and operated Johnny's carpets for many years and was known for his expertise in the carpet laying business.
A fishing pole in hand made for a great day for Johnny, and if he had to be inside, the day was always made better if a NASCAR race was on television. His music of choice was old, quality country from favorites such as George Jones and Elvis Presley. Johnny's canine companion, Midnight, was a constant by his side day and night and was truly man's best friend.
A graveside service of remembrance will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Eastern Carolina Veterans Cemetery with Pastor Danny Hood officiating.
Johnny is survived by his nieces, Lori Phillips, Kelly Coley Pelt, and Connie Coley; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and special caregiver Fidencia "Phoebe" Fonseca.

He could sing loved karaoke, he would tell me about old stories about his life. and he was a very generous man to everybody, and he did not know a stranger.
