Johnny Hall Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Merle Hay Funeral Home on Mar. 13, 2026.
Johnny Ray Hall- 75 of Des Moines, Iowa passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, September 21, 2025, surrounded by those he loved. Johnny grew up in Des Moines, Iowa and his roots remain strong.

Johnny enjoyed camping, boating, racing, dancing, and wood working among many other things. He coached little league and had a love for cars, especially vintage cars. Johnny had a love for animals and among his favorites was his cockatoo Fred, his goose Georgie, his lion cub Holmes, and his dogs: Shep, Sheema, CC, Meesha, KK, and Maggie.

Johnny was loved by many and was truly one-of- a kind. He was his daughter, Shawnna's best friend. If the garage walls could talk, it would tell so many stories of days gone by when Stacy and Johnny worked together. Johnny was always full of advice and support.

Johnny was a proud grandpa to: Isabella, Lily, Jestin, Evelyn, Gatlin, children to Shawnna Marie as well as Stacy, and Jesse, adult children to Stacy "Mike"

Johnny is preceded in death by many loved ones. Including but not limited to his mother, Marjorie, and his biological father, Verl, grandparents, cousins, and more. Also welcoming his arrival in Heaven are his granddaughters Olivia Rose, Gracelyn Marie, and grandson Hunter Lee, angels of Shawnna Marie.

Johnny is survived and loved by his loving partner Rhonda who provided the most love and support over the course of the last six years. His daughter, Shawnna Marie, his son Stacy Michael, grandchildren: Isabella, Lily, Jestin, Evelyn, Gatlin, Stacy, Jesse, his brother Ron, nephew Ryan (Ashley), and niece Jessica, stepdad, Richard, best friend Terry, cousin Rory, aunt Peg and many other loved ones and friends.

Per Johnny's wishes he will be cremated with a celebration of life at a later date. We have entrusted Merle Hay Funeral home to handle the cremation and placement in the Merle Hay mausoleum.
