Johnny Lee Jester, age 84, of Glenwood, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
He was born on September 23, 1938, in the Mount Tabor Community, the son of Ottis Fredrick Levi Jester and Etolie Pennington Jester. He was preceded in death by his son, Derek Jester; his parents; his brother, Carrol Jester; and his sister, Betty Oliver.
On October 13, 1962, he was married to the forever love of his life, Jackie Lou LaFevers. Johnny loved his Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Glenwood. In his younger years, he was employed with Midway Motor Freight and also Friendly Ford, and retired after many years with AP&L, now Entergy, as a Senior Lineman. He was a member of the Glenwood Masonic Lodge #662. Johnny had a passion for hunting and fishing and enjoyed golfing, collecting antiques, building birdhouses, continuing with his Dad’s hubcap collection, and drawing pictures of cars and trucks, that everyone in his rehab looked forward to him signing and giving to them. Johnny also enjoyed coaching Pony League baseball and softball teams.
Above all, Johnny was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, who dearly loved every member of his family. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife, Jackie, and following his grandkids’ through all of their sporting events. Johnny will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but he has left so many cherished memories for everyone to carry on in their hearts forever.
Johnny is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jackie Jester of Glenwood; his son, Denny Jester of Bonnerdale; his daughter and son-in-law, Jerri and Shane Beebe of Glenwood; five grandchildren, Cole Beebe and Jessica Robbins, Jalyn Jester, Carley Daniels and her husband, Colby, Denby Jester and her fiancée, Brinson Williams and Chase Beebe and his fiancée, Caroline Thomas; six great-grandchildren, Sydney, Brody, Shayley, Creek, Caleigh and Brooks; his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Vickie Jester of Glenwood; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 23, 2023, in the Grace Baptist Church in Glenwood with Bro. James Owens officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday, 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, prior to the funeral services at the church..
Interment will be in the Mount Tabor Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Glenwood, 209 North Third Street, Glenwood, Arkansas 71943.
Pallbearers will be James Dumont, Andrew Ashley, Cole Beebe, Chase Beebe, Matt Turner and Gage Galloway.
Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow members of the Glenwood Masonic Lodge #662, Gary Mitchell, Roy Rogers, Stan Taylor, Roger “Bimbo” Fleming, Jimmy Angel, Eddie Bright, Doug Lamm, Gary Holmes, Ronny Ashley, his loving church family, and the nurses and staff of CHI Home Health.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Johnny to the Mount Tabor Cemetery Association Fund.
